Blitz games are chess matches played where each opponent usually has less than 5 minutes to put their opponent into checkmate. As seen in the video, after each player moves, the player stops his clock, which starts the other player’s clock. If a player runs out of time, he loses.
Some people say that Blitz games develop bad habits. Unlike typical chess games where careful planning and analysis are in effect, Blitz games rely on all out attack, with little regard for defense or building an attack.
The games are fun and do not take very long to play. Many professionals keep the game fun by playing in Blitz tournaments.
